New York. - The Gents in Blue win in come from behind fashion on a Taty Castellanos penalty kick as New York wins their first road game since May 29; a stretch where they went a painful 0-5-2. Cincinatti's start couldn't have asked for a much start than they received, with Forward Brenner getting the scoring going in just the 4th minute after New York defender Maxime Chanot mishandled a clear leaving the ball free in front of goal tender Sean Johnson. The score would stay that way until the 37th minute when Keaton Parks would pick up his 4th goal of the season, taking a cross pass from Gudmundur Tharinsson and knocking it in with a perfectly placed header.

Cincinnati nearly ended up gaining a 2-1 advantage themselves but an Alvaro Barreal offsides call negated a second Brenner goal at the 54th minute. However just 6 minutes later the score would indeed become 2-1 after Taty Castellanos was fouled deep in Cincy territory and on the ensuing goal kick gave New York the lead for the first time; however it wasn't easy to maintain said lead, nor exactly peaceful. At the 70th and 78th minute two shots came from Cincinnati that nearly knotted the score at two; first Brandon Vasquez knock a header off a free kick just wide followed shortly afterwards by Brenner taking a tough angle shot that just went wide as well. Tensions had been running high all match but came to a head in the last 5 minutes as both Barreal and Isaac Atanga were issued red cards just five minutes apart; dropping Cincinnati down to just 9 men and securing the win for New York; putting them in a points/match tie with Orlando for 3rd overall in the East. Next up the first of 3 Derby matches in just under a month against rival New York Red Bulls, beginning with the makeup game in Harrison on Wednesday.

5 Notes:

1) The penalty kick by Taty Castellanos was his 12th of the season, tying him for second overall in the east and giving him his 6th goal in the past 6 matches.

2) New York City Football Club improved to 3-6-3 on the road this season with last night's win. However part of their struggles is their inability to score on the road; with just 13 goals scored and have yet to score 3 in a road match this year.

3) NYCFC currently sits in 3rd overall in the East with a goal differential lead over Orlando. If the season ended today they would host DC United; a 2-8-4 road team.

4) For Cincinnati their home woes continue as last night's loss dropped them to 1-5-5 at home as opposed to a somewhat better 3-7-3 on the road.

5) NYCFC's next two matches are a home and home against Hudson River Derby rival NY Red Bulls. The first is the makeup game that was postponed due to Hurricane Henri scheduled for Wednesday followed by the regularly scheduled match on Saturday at Yankee Stadium.
