Sidewalk Snow Removal Labour 

Location: North York, ON

Start: Immediately     Type: Part-Time     Shift Work: Days, Afternoons, Nights, Weekends

Salary: $18 - $20 / Hr based on prior experience

Hours: Variable dependent upon winter weather events

POSITION DESCRIPTION

As a Sidewalk Snow Clearing Crew Member, you are responsible for the clearance of snow & ice from pedestrian surface areas on the assigned crew route or other sites assigned by the Area Supervisor or Dispatcher from time to time.

The Sidewalk Labourer MUST ensure pedestrian surfaces are free of ice & snow, and safe for pedestrian traffic at all times on all sites serviced during the winter months. The Sidewalk Labourer shall take part in all activities necessary to perform the work of sidewalk snow clearance. Should it be necessary & requested, the Sidewalk Labourer shall assist other Side Walk Crews as required until all work is completed. While it’s recognized the crew foreperson has overall responsibility for crew performance, production, and profitability, the sidewalk labourer shall assist the Foreperson in achieving the overall objectives in completing the required tasks necessary to perform the work.

Follow all Safety Rules and Company Policies and Procedures

Perform the work through the use of appropriated supplied tools & equipment supplied (Tractor Plows, Snow Blowers, Shovels, Ice Choppers, Etc.)

To carry out all work assigned efficiently and productively and in a manner which reflects the company’s commitment to quality, service and job safety

To follow a personal code of conduct which reflects personal pride, concern for the property and physical well being of others and personal commitment to the company ideals to quality and service in everything we do

Execute Foreperson’s instructions (or Lead Hand’s instructions during the Foreperson’s absence) efficiently or productively

Maintain assigned tools, equipment and vehicles in good working order and appearance

Immediately report any injuries or damages to Client’s property, equipment, vehicles or tools to Foreperson

Ensures routine vehicle, equipment maintenance work and safety checks are carried out on all assigned equipment and defects are repaired

Before operating any motorized equipment check oil and lubrication levels to ensure full

Assist Foreperson in client communication through directing any client enquiries to the Foreperson

Work cooperatively with fellow crew members and employees

Reports to the Foreperson any major repairs or overhauls required and take his instruction

Reports to the Foreperson, any vehicle, or equipment service work performed that is not satisfactorily completed

Job Requirements

Available (On Call) 24/7 to respond to all snow/ice events from now through to Apr 15, 2019

Ability to respond to any and all snow & ice events on short notice without conflict of interest

Ability to work irregular shifts and extended hours as required to completion of work

Personal transportation to our yard (Weston Rd & Finch Ave) or assigned onsite location within the GTA

Ability to work and co-operate in a team environment

Mechanically inclined

Physically fit with ability to lift in excess of 50 lbs.

Possess winter clothing & footwear to withstand extended periods working in sub-zero winter weather

Prior experience in the use of snow blowers, lawn tractors or ATV type vehicles an asset

Valid "G" Licence with reasonably clean driver's abstract (no major infractions/suspensions)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 Assist, create and design solutions for company as well as new/existing clients.

Design in industry standard technologies, ensuring designs are within project specifications and Company standard.

Produce design documentation as per project needs.
