NYCFC Scoring Struggles Outside The Bronx Continue; Tie Chicago 0-0.

New York. - In covering this team, there is a stark difference in the offensive output for the Gents In Blue at Yankee Stadium versus literally anywhere else on the planet. By comparison, NYCFC has scored 15 goals in four matches at Yankee Stadium compared to 15 goals in 12 matches elsewhere, including at “home” at Red Bull arena. While I think it bodes well for the future with the increased matches they have upcoming at Yankee Stadium, this is an issue I’ve addressed previously and one that will absolutely burn them if and when they have to take the playoffs on the road.

NYCFC Jumps 3 Spots To 3rd In East With Big Win Against Columbus

New York. - This article is going out to every team in major league soccer not called NYCFC: Be afraid, be very afraid. After an up and down season the Gents in Blue have found their stride, finally turning their barrage of shots on net into goals. With last night's 4-1 dismantling of visiting Columbus in front of the Yankee Stadium crowd, this is a team that is showing results from that effort. And the rest of the league no doubt is taking notice.

5 Goals By 5 Players – NYCFC With A Huge Win

New York. - One of the advantages I have working and writing for Spanglish Sports World is we're allowed a little more leeway with regards to our personalities when writing these articles. So as a fan of NYCFC and covering the team, yes I have a hometown favoritism. I admit it. So tonight's match against Orlando made me, a fan, happy. 5 goals by 5 players and an obscene 15 to 3 ratio of shots on target made this easily the most one sided match this team has had this year. From minute one this was a match going NY's way. Orlando was all over the place; burning a ton of energy that would serve to burn them as the match went on. It took 40 minutes for the first goal to get scored; a left footed rocket off the foot of Jesus Medina for his team leading 7th of the season and almost equally important, NOT giving up a tying goal going into the half. That's been an issue with this team in the past; allowing your opponents to carry momentum into the second half with a late tying goal.

NYCFC Gets A Much Needed Rebound Win – Overtake Montreal 1-0

New York. - The Gents From New York managed to get their revenge on Montreal in front of 2,873 at “home” after that horrific match two weeks with one of the unlikeliest of goals a team can score. With the game of course knotted at 0-0 NY Goalkeeper (and winner of his first game) Luis Barraza took a goal kick from his six yard line. On the ensuing bounce, it confused Defender Zorhan Bassong allowing Ismael Tajouri-Shradi enough time to lob the ball over Montreal Goalkeeper James Pantemis head and into the net. Was it pretty? Nope. But does it count? Absolutely yes, and that's what matters most. In the end, this was the difference maker; however as always there's room for improvement.

NYCFC Drops Another One, Despite Doing Nearly Everything Right

New York. - So I just finished the press conference for the Gents In Blue and the single word I would use it is Bewilderment. Coach Ronny Delia and Anton Tinnerholm handled a press conference that should by all accounts should have been a celebratory one. New York out shoots Columbus on the road by a whopping 21-6. 7-3 on goal, 7-1 corner kicks and over 60% possession. Yet in the end the only number that matters is their 2-1 loss to Columbus. This was one of those games where NY should have scored 4, 5 goals or more; a theme I've mentioned for more than one game this season. But credit where it's due, Columbus Goalkeeper Eloy Room and his defenders all had a tremendous game tonight. Fits aplenty for all Gents In Blue. However I really thought tonight might been the night where Taty Castellanos might FINALLY get that goal he's been due for. Since scoring four goals in his first four games he's been largely silent; raising questions as to whether the weight of that contract might be part of the reason he's been pressing. Tonight Taty had a full three brilliant opportunities to end that streak; including a point blank header with half the goal available; only to knock it wide. As Heber is recovering from his ACL injury one has to wonder if and how much playing time that might take from Taty if he can't find the back of the net.

NYCFC: Sorry Gents, You Won't Make The Playoffs With Matches Like That

New York. - First off, let me start off by saying that I was looking forward to this match tonight. That was a long 10 day break but this was a team that went 3-1 in it's last 4, including a huge come from behind win on the road in DC United to go into this break. I missed rooting for this team; I'm a Yankee fan as well and need a team right now that gives me hope. This match did not give me said hope. They were going up against a streaking Montreal team (currently playing in Florida ATM) that's gone 2-0-2 in their last four matches and surrendering only one goal during that stretch, playing low scoring, methodical soccer, some would even say BORING soccer that's led them to scoring two goals in a match only once since May 1. And scoring chances tonight for the Gents In Blue were few and far between, in part due to the curious exclusion of both Thiago Andrade and Jesus Medina until the 72nd and 81st minute respectively. Andrade is riding a hot streak and Medina is at 5 goals so puzzling to say the least. By the time you put Medina in there, the team was already down a goal; you got to put the man in sooner than that.

NYCFC Come Out Of The Break, Lose A Winnable Game

New York. - I hate it when I'm right sometimes. If you ask my wife it doesn't happen often, but it does happen on occasion. Watching last night's 3-2 loss by NYCFC as they (and Black Players For Change/team captain Sean Johnson celebrated Juneteenth, RESPECT) to the New England Revolution I kept thinking I hate it when I'm right. This team had the momentum, they had the chance to take an early lead and set the tone. In the first 20 minutes, A penalty kick by Castellanos in the 12th minute with a save by Revolution goalie Matt Turner (I'll discuss him in a bit) as well as 2 more on target by the 21st minute and this game had the makings of an impressive win; or a heartbreaking loss. With the team playing downhill and New England still without a shot of any kind by the 25th minute I remember commenting to my fellow Spanglish Sports World journalist Robin that giving up a goal after that kind of output is the absolute most emotionally crushing thing that can happen to a team. Fast forward LITERALLY 2 minutes later on a right foot volley by Revolution forward Gustavo Bou and just like that, NY is down 1-0. I hate when I'm right sometimes. Or maybe I'm just bad luck, they are 0-2-1 in the last three games I've been in the press box, I dunno.
