Toronto. – The results are in! Toronto will prepare to defend “the den” this coming weekend in a Championship match against Featherstone Rovers. After a 24-point win in the Preliminary final between Toulouse Olympic and the Rovers ending in a final score of 12-36, a mentally rested Wolfpack, have their eyes focused on the Championship game October 5th, and hope to take advantage of the fact Featherstone might feel slightly more fatigued.
Although Featherstone has yet to beat Toronto this season, they did hand them one of their closest games of the summer in July, with a score of 22-18. The match was an extremely rough one with yellow cards handed out as a result of a physical altercation between Toronto’s Darcy Lussick and Featherstone’s Jack Bussey.
While Toronto has an incredible record in the regular season of 26 wins and 1 loss, they are heading into the Championship game with the mindset that their job is not done. Through two posted videos on the teams official Twitter page (@TOwolfpack), team members shared their views on what its going to take. Ricky Leutelle, who simply had an amazing game against Toulouse on September __, stated the last match was exciting but shared the sentiment that they “know the job is not done so we’re not getting carried away with that win”. While Jon Wilkin said they “need to produce a series of disciplines that will get us the win and that’s what we’re focused on… we need composure and concentration.” To that note despite the successes of the prior weeks, the Toronto Wolfpack have continuously hit the pitch focused on play thus far, and it will be seen if they can continue their path to success inside Lamport stadium on Saturday October 5th at 2:30.
