New York. - NYCFC continues it’s success in the CONCACAF Champions league as round two got underway last night with a 3-1 win over Comunicaciones in the “home” portion of the Quarter-Final. On a night played in chilly East Hartford Connecticut (about 100 miles Northeast of Yankee Stadium) the Gents In Blue struggled initially to find their footing by however by and large controlled most of the match, with a 6-2 shot on target advantage and much of the possession time. After a Talles Magno goal was overturned on a VAR offsides, Taty Castellanos got the scoring officially underway shortly afterwards in the 29th minute, taking a header from a Santiago Rodriguez cross pass for his third goal of the tournament. After a Comunicaciones goal in the 60th minute off a corner kick by Manual Gamboa New York retaliated both five and eleven minutes later respectively, first with a Maxi Moralez mid-air volley from Taty followed by a Rodriguez goal inside the near post at minute 71.

NYCFC Give Up Late Goal, Lose First Game of 2022 1-0

New York. - On a night in L.A. Where expectations and excitement ran high at the start of the 2022 season, the New York City Football Club struggled to have their offense gel as they fell to the home Los Angeles Galaxy 1-0. The team, which impressed to start CONCACAF with a 2-0 and 4-0 win over Santos managed only one shot attempt on goal early on and was unable to hold possession throughout; testing goalkeeper Sean Johnson repeatedly until a goal in the 90th minute by the team's 2021 leading goal scorer Chicharitto gave the Galaxy the only score of the match. New York had a chance to tie in the 93rd minute but the shot by Heber went wide.

NYCFC Completes Strong Sweep of Santos With 4-0 Win

New York. - On a night that “technically” would count as the first home match of any sort for NYCFC in 2022 (despite being played in Los Angeles), the Gents in Blue rolled to a 4-0 win (and 6-0 on Aggregate) over Santos De Guápiles thanks to a 20-3 onslaught of shots for each side.

Castellanos Starts 2022 Like He Left 2021, NYCFC Gets 2-0 in CONCACAF Champions League

New York. - The NYC FC 2022 campaign picked up right where it left off from last season as Taty Castellanos scored 2 goals on route to a shut out win against Santos de Guápiles in the opening round of the CONCACAF Champions League. On a night where goalie Sean Johnson did not even have to field a shot on goal until late in the second half, the gents in blue needed all of 5 minutes to get the scoring going as Castellanos scored from the penalty spot on a match that could have easily been 4, even 5 goals for the New York Club.

Rams and the Bengals: Battle of Feel Good Teams on Football's Biggest Stage

New York. - Back at the start of the NFL season as any seasons, football analysts, both professional and living room laid down their pics for who would enter Sunday's Super Bowl. For me, it was Tampa and Kansas City. An admittedly boring pick but one that many would assume would at least be plausible. And I came close to looking like a genius, with the Bucs narrowly missing by 3 and the Chiefs oddly blowing an 18 point lead at home bringing us to the final stretch with two teams that by all accounts, make you feel good to root for.

The NFL is Fading, and That’s a Shame

New York. - Over the last weekend the NFL had a playoff weekend the likes of which I don’t remember in nearly 40 years of being a fan. 4 games, three ending in a game winning field goal and the fourth ending in a game winning touchdown in overtime between two teams with some of the biggest fan bases in the league. 4 games, and a combined score differential of just 15 points (which beats the previous NFL record for this round of playoff action of 18) and gave old fans like me enthusiasm for next week and certainly helped new fans get into the game.

A Pair of Surprises As We Reach The End of the NFL Season

New York. - In any other year week 17 would mark the end of the regular season. However for better or for worse (and to me it's 100% a mixed bag) here we are reaching the end of the new 17 game/18 week schedule in the NFL. Like most things in life this too blew past us in the blink of an eye and after 16 of the 17 games played we have a great view of what to expect going into the post season and beyond. With that, I'll be breaking down 2 surprises, 2 disappointments and 2 biggest “This shocked literally no ones” of the 2021-2022 NFL season.

NYCFC Defies Odds, Defies the Doubters, Capture Their First MLS Cup

New York. - 8 months back I covered my first game with the New York City Football Club. For the team that lost a heart breaker in a shootout loss the previous year and due to Covid hadn't seen a home soccer game since the 2019 season, it was a chance of impassioned renewal. And it started with a bang in a 5-0 win over Cincinnati to start the season the right foot. During the season, the team suffered through injury, poor playing conditions (more on that later) as well as it's longest goal drought in its history with 509 minutes straight without a goal. They were a team that excelled at home in the Bronx but struggled elsewhere but despite all the setbacks pulled out a 4th place finish in a tight MLS Eastern Conference.
